Matt Zieger is the Senior Director of Impact Investing and Social Entrepreneurship for Catholic Charities USA. With a mission to reduce poverty in America, Catholic Charities is one of the largest nonprofit networks in the nation, serving more than 8 million people a year. In this role, Matt is responsible for their national impact investing and social enterprise strategy as well as growing a portfolio of more than forty social enterprises aimed at providing transitional employment and other services for those in need. Prior to this role Matt was the Vice President of The Forbes Funds, a foundation focused on nonprofit innovation and capacity building. While there he partnered with the Bank of New York Mellon and a diverse group of startup ecosystem leaders to launch a multi-million dollar early stage impact investment platform focused on developing innovation that benefits the lives of vulnerable people. Throughout the last decade he has helped lead to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's efforts to adopt and support impact investing through a statewide seed and early stage capital provider network, and develop a new regional public/private impact investing collaborative. As a former Foundation president and state economic development executive, Matt has over fifteen years of experience at the intersection of economic development, social innovation, and philanthropy. For more than a decade, Matt has dedicated his career solving pressing social challenges by harnessing the transformative power of private sector innovation and investment.
